Brutti Ma Buoni

Brutti Ma Buoni in Italian means 'Ugly but Good'. This funny name has been used by Italian Pastry chefs since the late 1800 to describe these delicious hazelnut meringue cookies and their irregular shape.

The Brutti Ma Buoni Cookies, originally from the north of Italy, have become an Italian classic. They are made all over italy with some slight variations. It is a sort of meringue cookie with the addition of Chopped Hazelnut and Pisto, a mix of spices containing cinnamon, cloves, star anise and nutmeg. They are crunchy, light and truly delicious.
